Two kinds of writing appear on an app page, and they work differently. This is the whole arrangement, including the parts that are awkward for us.
Every app gets a 0–100 score and a written review generated by a language model working from measured evidence — speed, security and accessibility numbers collected by tooling. We say so on the app page itself. How we score apps explains what goes into it.
A developer can spend credits to have members review their app, and set their own requirements: try this screen, write at least this much, attach a screenshot. Every review produced that way carries a PAID REVIEW label above the text, saying who funded it.
The reviewer is paid the same amount whether their verdict is positive or negative. Nothing in the system pays more for praise, and the coach that checks a draft is explicitly forbidden from suggesting a writer be more positive.
Reviewers need a verified email address and can review any given app only once. That is the whole of it.
We do not verify that a reviewer bought, installed or used the app. We cannot, and we do not claim to. You will never see the words “verified reviewer” or “verified purchase” on this site, because they would not be true.
A review goes live the moment it is submitted. The developer then has 48 hours to approve the payment. Silence approves it — an inattentive developer cannot burn someone's work.
If they dispute it, they pick a reason and explain it, and the review stays on the page with the dispute shown next to it. The reviewer can contest, and we decide. A developer cannot have a review taken down for being negative, and we track how often each developer disputes negative reviews specifically.
Only for these reasons, and only by our decision:
“It did not meet my requirements” is not on that list. That is a payment dispute. Removed reviews are kept in our records; nothing is quietly deleted.
Credits are earned by writing reviews and spent funding reviews of your own app. Minimum 120 characters, minimum 5 credits, and a cap on how much any one person can earn in a week.
Credits never convert to cash and never move between accounts. They never buy ranking, score, badges or homepage placement — the editorial score is calculated the same way for a developer who has spent nothing.
A review task can never ask for an App Store or Google Play rating or review, or a public install. The form does not offer it and the free-text field is checked for it. Both stores can remove an app for that, and it would be our fault for allowing it.
