About this app

Novastart is an infinite canvas whiteboard OS. Instead of juggling separate windows, tabs and apps, it brings everything you work with onto one boundless whiteboard, so your tools and files live side by side in a single shared space. Open Chrome, ChatGPT, Claude, Word and Excel next to each other with your own files, and arrange them the way you think about a project. Invite teammates to shared canvases so everyone sees the same apps and files. AI agents are first-class participants on the canvas: each agent gets its own cursor and keyboard and works right beside you and your teammates in real time. Novastart is freemium, so you can get started for free at novastart.com.

Key features

  • 1Infinite canvas where every app is a window — zoom out to see all projects, zoom in to work
  • 2AI agents as first-class participants with their own cursors, keyboard, and visible work streams
  • 3Shared canvases where teammates see the same apps and files, with cross-machine app streaming

Scout Review

Written by AI from measured evidence, scored out of 100.

Novastart is an ambitious bet: an infinite canvas where apps, files, teammates, and AI agents all live side by side. The pitch is compelling, the problem is real, and the marketing site loads faster than almost anything in the category. But the execution visible today doesn't match the ambition. The homepage top render is broken. The App Store screenshots show generic browser and chat UIs instead of the canvas OS being sold. There's no free trial, no docs, no help center, and no security page. The AI-agent-with-a-cursor concept is the most interesting thing here and it's the least visible. Novastart has a real idea and a fast site. What it needs now is to show the product it keeps describing.

Measure by measure

Usability

44

No free trial, no live demo link that works, no docs, no help center. Just a contact form and a 'View Demo' button. Store screenshots show zero onboarding. Navigation on the homepage is obscured by a rendering error.

Speed

88

Lighthouse mobile 97/100 (LCP 2.3s, CLS 0, TBT 4ms), desktop 100/100. The marketing site is genuinely fast — lightweight static page, no bloat. Whatever the app does, the landing page won't be the bottleneck.

Security

74

HTTPS enforced with HSTS, frame protection, X-Content-Type-Options, Referrer-Policy, Permissions-Policy, SPF, DMARC. 10/12 checklist. No CSP header, no SOC 2, no security page, no bug bounty. Solid hygiene, zero transparency.

Accessibility

78

Lighthouse accessibility 100/100 on automated checks. But no a11y statement, no WCAG claim, one language, no keyboard nav docs. Automated score is perfect; everything a human would need to verify is absent.

Growth

58

Real problem (context-switching, screen-share chaos), specific wedge (AI agents with cursors on a shared canvas), clear target (remote teams + AI power users). But Miro and Notion already own the collaboration mindshare, and 'infinite canvas OS' is a hard sell to IT.

Improvement areas

  • Homepage top section is broken — stray 'Taxes Agent' element overlaps the logo and obscures navigation
  • App Store screenshots show generic browser and chat UIs instead of the actual infinite canvas product
  • No free trial, live demo, documentation, or help center — only a contact form for support

Design & Usability

Novastart's design story is split in two, and both halves are rough. The homepage top render is visibly broken — a stray 'Taxes Agent' pill sits on top of the NOVASTART logo, and the nav is partially obscured. Below the fold, a clean centered hero with bold typography and a 'View Demo' button shows what the site could be. The App Store screenshots are worse: three images showing a generic iPhone browser, a generic AI chat, and a logo on white. None of them show the infinite canvas, the agents, or the multi-app layout the product claims to be. Usability follows the same pattern. There's no free trial, no working demo link, no docs, no help center — just a contact form and a promise to reply by email. The store listing offers zero onboarding cues. For a product whose entire pitch is 'see everything at once,' the first impression shows almost nothing.

Speed & Security

Speed is the one dimension where Novastart genuinely delivers. Lighthouse mobile performance scores 97/100 with an LCP of 2.3s, CLS of 0, and TBT of just 4ms; desktop hits a perfect 100/100. The marketing site is a lightweight static page with no bloat, and it loads faster than most competitors' landing pages. Security is competent but opaque. The HTTP probe confirms HTTPS enforced with HSTS, frame protection, X-Content-Type-Options, Referrer-Policy, Permissions-Policy, SPF, and DMARC — 10 of 12 checklist points. The two gaps are a missing Content-Security-Policy header and the complete absence of any security page, SOC 2 claim, pen-test disclosure, or bug bounty. For a product that runs AI agents clicking buttons on your behalf and streams teammates' app windows across machines, that transparency gap matters more than it would for a static blog.

Accessibility & Growth

Accessibility scores a perfect 100/100 on Lighthouse's automated axe-core audit, which covers contrast, alt text, labels, and ARIA basics. What it doesn't cover is everything else: there's no accessibility statement, no WCAG conformance claim, no keyboard navigation documentation, and the App Store listing is localized in only one language. The automated score is excellent; the human-verifiable signals are absent. Growth is a judgment call on the idea itself. The problem Novastart names — remote teams drowning in tabs, screen shares, and lost context — is real and growing. The wedge is specific: AI agents as first-class canvas participants with their own cursors, plus the ability to use a teammate's apps as if they were yours. That's genuinely differentiated from Miro (whiteboard only), Notion (docs and databases), and Microsoft Mesh (VR meetings). The risk is positioning: 'infinite canvas OS' is a big claim for a product whose store listing is titled 'Fastest AI Browser.' If the team can sharpen the story and ship the canvas experience the screenshots are missing, there's room here. If not, it's another whiteboard with AI sprinkled on top.

Conclusion

The gap between what Novastart says it is and what a new visitor can actually see is the whole story. The homepage promises an infinite canvas OS where AI agents work beside you with their own cursors. The App Store shows a browser and a chat window. The site promises saved workspaces, unlimited canvases, and team collaboration. The store listing is titled 'Fastest AI Browser.' Somewhere in there is a real product — the AI agent choreography described on the homepage (lead agents splitting work, helpers reporting back, results verified before completion) is a genuinely novel interaction model. But you can't review what you can't see, and right now Novastart is asking users to take a lot on faith. Fix the homepage render, replace the store screenshots with the actual canvas, and put a working demo behind that button. The idea deserves better than the current shop window.

Suggestions for improvement

  • Fix the broken homepage top render — the stray 'Taxes Agent' pill overlapping the logo is the first thing every visitor sees
  • Replace App Store screenshots with actual canvas views showing multiple apps, agents with cursors, and the infinite zoom
  • Add a working live demo or free trial signup so visitors can experience the canvas without installing
  • Publish a security page covering data handling, agent permissions, and app-streaming architecture
