Cycling through all six. Tap any point to stop.
Measured on six things
Free, open-source social media scheduler, web app, API and mobile app soon (X API fees passed through at cost)
Weak security posture: no HTTPS enforcement, no HSTS, no CSP, no frame protection. Only 1/12 security checklist points. SPF present but no DMARC. AES-256 claim unverified.

I decided to make a posting software app that's free because it doesn't seem necessary to charge for a posting software when the social media API's are free (it's free except for X posts at cost). So I made a free, open-source social media scheduler so the capability is more easily available to people. Consider trying out my web app (API included).

Written by AI from measured evidence, scored out of 100.
Post by FreeSurf is a promising open-source social media scheduler that nails performance and offers a genuinely free alternative to paid tools. The API documentation is a standout feature, and platform-specific warnings show real UX consideration. However, it's let down by weak security headers (1/12 checklist score), a design that feels template-generated, and accessibility gaps. For a 0.1-year-old product, it's a solid foundation — but it needs security hardening, design polish, and community traction before it can seriously challenge incumbents. The free, open-source angle is compelling, but trust is earned, not given, especially when handling social media credentials.
Clear CTA and thoughtful platform-specific warnings show good UX thinking. But no nav bar, no visual examples of the scheduler, and sparse onboarding reduce ease of use.
Clean, readable layout with high-contrast text and consistent feature grid. But template-like decorative elements, inconsistent product naming, and cramped footer reduce polish.
Excellent Lighthouse scores: 90/100 mobile, 99/100 desktop. LCP 3.0s is acceptable, CLS 0.005 is near-perfect, TBT 28ms is negligible. Fast, lightweight site.
Weak security posture: no HTTPS enforcement, no HSTS, no CSP, no frame protection. Only 1/12 security checklist points. SPF present but no DMARC. AES-256 claim unverified.
Lighthouse accessibility 89/100 with two failing audits: color contrast and heading order. No a11y statement or multi-language support found. Decent but not excellent.
Real problem (costly social schedulers) with a clear free/open-source wedge. But very new domain, no traction signals, and crowded category with entrenched incumbents.
Post by FreeSurf presents a clean, readable landing page with a clear value proposition: free, open-source social media scheduling. The design is functional but unpolished — template-like grid decorations, inconsistent product naming, and a cramped footer detract from an otherwise competent layout. Usability benefits from thoughtful touches like platform-specific character and media ratio warnings, but suffers from no visible navigation, no product screenshots, and minimal onboarding guidance. The API documentation is surprisingly thorough with cURL, JavaScript, and Python examples, suggesting the developer's strength lies in backend functionality rather than frontend polish. Overall, it's a functional tool that works, but the presentation doesn't inspire confidence for non-technical users who need hand-holding.
Performance is the clear standout: Lighthouse scores of 90/100 mobile and 99/100 desktop with near-perfect CLS and negligible TBT make this one of the faster sites in its category. The lightweight design pays off. Security, however, is the opposite story. The site lacks HTTPS enforcement, HSTS, CSP, frame protection, and multiple other standard headers — scoring just 1/12 on the security checklist. While the AES-256 token encryption claim is promising, it's unverified externally. For a tool that handles social media credentials, this is a significant gap. The SPF record exists but DMARC is missing, leaving the domain vulnerable to spoofing. Users should be cautious about what they connect until security hardening is addressed.
Accessibility is decent at 89/100 Lighthouse, but two failing audits — color contrast and heading order — are easy fixes that should have been caught. No accessibility statement or multi-language support limits broader adoption. Growth potential is real but constrained: the free, open-source model directly addresses the pain point of expensive schedulers, and the API-first approach could attract developers. However, the domain is only 0.1 years old with no visible traction, and the category is dominated by established players like Buffer, Hootsuite, and Later with years of trust and feature depth. The wedge is clear — free and open — but it needs to overcome the 'you get what you pay for' skepticism that plagues free tools in professional workflows.
Conclusion
If you're a developer who values open-source tools and doesn't mind a rough edge or two, Post by FreeSurf is worth a look — the API is clean and the performance is excellent. For non-technical social media managers, wait for security hardening and more polish. The potential is here; it just needs time and community support to mature into something that can genuinely compete with the paid giants. Watch this space — if the developer keeps shipping at this pace, it could become a real contender.
